I am delighted to announce that on Saturday 11th July, between 10am and 12:30pm, I will be joining Ivybridge Library for the launch of the 2015 Summer Reading Challenge!

This year’s theme is Record Breakers and the Reading Agency have teamed up with Guinness World Records ™ (GWR) to encourage young readers to read six books over the summer. The books, which are arranged in six different categories, (Cool Tech, Way to Go!, The Big Stuff, Animal Magic, People Power and Action! Adventure!), encourage children to learn about some of the amazing achievements and records around the world. Any idea how large the world’s largest pizza us?! Read about it here! The children can also collect stickers as they go.

Two of the books, ‘The Black and White Club’ and ‘I wish I’d be Born a Unicorn’ are published by Maverick Books. Congratulations to Alice Hemming, Kimberley Scott, Rachel Lyon and Andrea Ringli.

I have been invited by Lynn West, Supervisor at Ivybridge Library, to adjudicate the process, witnessing and testifying to the most pledges made for a reading campaign. There’s a trailer telling you all about it here!

The Summer reading Challenge is great fun AND it’s free! I hope that those of you local to Ivybridge will be able to join us on the day, but if not, why not join in the fun online!

You can follow all the latest news on the Summer Reading Challenge Facebook page

Happy Reading!
