I enjoyed a fabulous week celebrating World Book Week with the children and staff at White Rock Primary in Paignton and Lady Seawards Primary in Exeter.

Here’s a quick round up!

At White Rock the brief was to further encourage the children’s love of books. And love books they certainly do! After a whole-school book quiz, I was able to work with each class, discussing the book-making process, creating characters, hunting biscuits and answering some very thoughtful Q&As!

I’m sure you’ll be able to tell from the photos it was a day full to the brim with fun. It even ended with a book swap cafe, which the school holds half termly. What fantastic costumes, too!

It was a pleasure to be invited back to Lady Seawards Primary School, this time to their Reception/ Year One class. The children shared all that they knew about their Space topic (they were very knowledgeable!) and then used this knowledge to design a character to take in a rocket into space.

 

 

 

Whilst the younger children enjoyed role-playing with their new travelling companions, others created a group story on a story board, which told the tale of their part-dinosaur teacher, Miss Holborn, journeying into space to learn more about Saturn. I won’t spoil the ending but it was inspired by the infamous book, ‘The Dinosaur That Pooped a Planet!

It was a tough call, but the highlight of the week has to be having my photo taken with a real-life Captain Sneaky McSqueaky, complete with biscuits and chocolate mice. It was nice to see that Oliver from Alps Class had managed to bring a sharing, caring side to the loveable, greedy rogue as he shared his scrumptious treasure with his peers (and me!) at the end of the day.
