Scissorella schools tour

To celebrate the publication of Scissorella; The Paper Princess, I’ve been busy reading, creating and sharing the story with lots of children.

Laura Barrett – the magical illustrator of Scissorella – and I got together via the power of Zoom with Reading Rocks to deliver a virtual story session. The schools, which were all over the country from Liverpool to Cornwall, listened to Laura and I reading the story and were quizzed on their fairy tale knowledge. Then Laura showed the children how to make a Lotte Reiniger-inspired puppet.

If you missed that here’s a clickable link to Laura’s HOW TO guide.

The celebrations continued with a tour of local schools in Devon. Thanks to Stowford Primary, Shaugh Prior Primary School, Cornwood Primary School, The Erme Primary School and Sherford Vale Primary School for welcoming me and to The Ivybridge Bookshop for providing the book to the children. It was a pleasure to share the story with you. I loved your Lotte-inspired puppets!

The Scissorella Schools Tour ended with a virtual visit to Wroughton Infant School and an in person visit to Wroughton playgroup, Little Lambs.

But have you seen the gorgeous Scissorella window display at The Ivybridge Bookshop?! If not, it’ll be up until the New Year. Special thanks to Sherry Haley from St Ives who made the props and beautiful carriage and to Ivybridge bookshop for making Scissorella centre stage!

If you’ve read Scissorella and enjoyed it, do let us know!
