Gadgeteers! – Summer reading challenge

It was my spacetastic pleasure to mark the opening of the Summer Reading Challenge with storytelling and crafts at Torquay Library.

Linked to Sunshine At Bedtime (illustrated by Sally Soweol Han, Storyhouse Publishing) and Aerodynamics of Biscuits (illustrated by Sophia Touliatou, Maverick Books) the children had the opportunity to create scratch art, make their own spoon characters, make a space mobile and design and build a biscuit rocket.

‘Oliver’ was very impressed with the different rocket designs and Sneaky McSqueaky thought they all looked delicious! We hope they made it home without too many engine faults šŸ™‚

Here are some snaps of the rockets:

And here they are superimposed into space with a green screen app:

Thank you for helping Miki get to sleep even though the sun was shining. Hopefully you’ll be tired after our busy session and sleep well.

Good luck to those of you taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge this year. I know Devon Libraries have lots of exciting things planned.

Happy reading !
