ABOUT CLARE

Clare is a primary school teacher and children’s author who lives in Devon with her husband and two children. Clare does her best writing by the sea, which is lucky because she lives a stone’s throw (sort of!) from the sand and salty sea air.

When Clare isn’t writing stories she is inspiring children to write their own. Being a teacher gives Clare an outlet for her BIG ideas. Once she helped a class make a giant rice crispy cake that was so wide it wouldn’t fit through the door!

But her best idea yet has been putting pen to paper. Clare loves writing whacky but is particularly passionate about writing stories that help children deal with big feelings and difficult issues.

In 2013, Clare won The Margaret Carey Scholarship for Picture Book Writers and she received Silver Medal at The Greenhouse Funny Prize 2014 for her picture book, Aerodynamics of Biscuits, which was published by Maverick Arts Publishing in September 2015. An early reader version of the story, ‘Biscuit Blast Off,’ was published in May 2016. The book is now also a stage show, with enormous thanks to Rob and his team at Entertaininly Different.

Clare is represented by Alice Williams of David Higham Associates.

Please get in contact if you’d like to book an event or live show. Clare loves all opportunities to work with young readers and their families. In fact, she loves doing events SO MUCH she has started keeping an ‘Event Count!’ Please also see the price guide 2017-2018
