What a warm and special welcome from librarian Hazel and the families at Torquay Library today! I thoroughly enjoyed our morning of pirate biscuit fun. Thank you so much for being such an enthusiastic audience!
Biscuit Blast Off!
‘Design a Character’ Competition
Following a lovely school visit for Book Week, I was thrilled to run a ‘Design a Character’ competition for the KS2 children at Leigham Primary School, Plymouth.
But, gosh! What a challenge! There were 164 smashing entries from Year 3 up to Year 6 and it was a tough, tough job!
I was presented with original, beautifully illustrated and very well thought out ideas. In fact, it was *so* tough that I had to call on some help from some writerly, illustrator friends!
KS1 and KS2 Computing Activities for Schools
It’s always exciting to hear someone somewhere has enjoyed reading your book, and no less when it’s a teacher sharing your creation with their class.
Proof! The Jolly Dodger could exist

As a children’s writer the line between the real and the imaginary is often blurred, so imagine my excitement when I heard that it is entirely possible to build an aerodynamic biscuit rocket!
Super Space Stories!

There was a real buzz at Blackpool C of E Primary School today, as the Key Stage One and Reception classes joined me for a morning of story writing and a special assembly.
Devon Book Club’s Birthday Celebrations
It was wonderful to be a part of Devon Book Group‘s third birthday celebrations in Dartmouth.
Book lovers came out in force in the mizzle and drizzle to hear from six writers (myself included) to visit and browse the local bookshops (Dartmouth Community Bookshop and Dartmouth Bookseller) It was also National Book Shop Day #bookshopday so an extra reason to get together to chat and eat cake.
Publication day for ‘Biscuit Blast Off!’

To celebrate the publication of my Maverick early reader with Sophia Touliatou, ‘Biscuit Blast Off!’ I thought I’d share a little bit about how the new book came about since early readers can be something of a mystery to authors.
