What an exciting day we all had celebrating the forthcoming publication of ‘Danny and the Dream Dog’ (written by Fiona Barker and illustrated by Howard Gray, published by Tiny Tree) and ‘How Rude’ (illustrated by Olivier Tallec and written by me, published by Quarto)
As a teacher turned author, I often get asked by people working in schools how I started writing, how I find the time and for advice about taking the plunge.
Below are some things I do and have done, which might also help you get your project off the ground. It’s not exhaustive! So please feel free to share others in the comments.

World Book Day was extra special this year because I was able to spend it in MY school, the school where I work, alongside it’s lovely staff and pupils.
Since the theme was ‘Share a Story,’ the staff got their heads together and arranged a rotation of activities based on one of their favourite books.

To celebrate the publication of my Maverick early reader with Sophia Touliatou, ‘Biscuit Blast Off!’ I thought I’d share a little bit about how the new book came about since early readers can be something of a mystery to authors.
I have come to the conclusion (and it wasn’t difficult) that joining The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators is the BEST New Years resolution I ever made …. accidentally- on -purpose !
